El Zorro

El Zorro is a Gemini 600 rigid inflatable: 6 metres on a 130hp Yamaha, working out of the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. She is the boat with the most sea time in the fleet, and she has earned it.

What she carries

Six guests plus skipper. Six on a 6-metre RIB is comfortable rather than cramped, and it keeps the boat light enough to stay quick.

What she is used for

• Spear fishing: her main working charter. A low, stable platform that divers can roll off and climb back onto without a ladder gymnastics session
• Self-drive hire: she is one of the boats we rent to licensed skippers. See rentals

Spear charters are enquiry-only. Visibility, swell and permits decide whether a day is worth running, so we quote per date rather than off a rate card. Tell us when and how many.

What you need

Your own spear gun and dive licence are mandatory, along with a valid recreational spear-fishing permit. We check both before you board and cannot take you out without them. Bring your wetsuit, fins and mask, and closed-toe deck shoes for the ride out.

We provide the spotter, surface support, dive flag and ice for the catch.

A RIB is a different day

Worth saying plainly: a RIB is not a comfortable boat, and it is not trying to be. You will get wet, you will feel every swell, and on a bumpy day it is hard work. That is the trade for shallow access, quick launching and being able to sit right on the water.

If you are bringing someone who is unsure about the sea, book one of the bigger, steadier boats instead. If you want to be in the day rather than watching it, this is the boat.

Booking her

Skipper, fuel and safety equipment are included. Weather calls are made 48 hours ahead; if we cancel, you get a full refund or another date, whichever suits you.
